Weekend Recap

How is the weekend over and it is back to reality already? Do we really have to go back? Maybe I feel even more surprised, because I didn’t do anything crazy this weekend and yet I’m totally exhausted.

Tunic top: Nordstrom // Kimono: Nordstrom (similar) // Shorts: Gap (old: similar) // Purse: Francesca’s (similar) // Bracelet: J. Crew Factory (similar)

I can’t show you my shoes, because I grew tentacle legs. Not really, but I have to admit that there were no good full length photos. BUT, I ordered an inexpensive tripod from Amazon to practice with since it will give Greg a break from always taking pictures. Bonus, they gave me another free trial of Amazon Prime!

We did a little house upgrading this weekend. I moved in with Greg over 3 years ago, so a lot of our stuff hasn’t been changed since, like towels, bath mat, etc. We went to Ikea and bought some new kitchen bits, like a dish strainer, because our old wood one was growing mold.

We also bought a few new towels from Target, and they were out of the normal size in the pale pink I wanted, so we got a BATH SHEET.

It’s not a towel. It’s like a freaking towel blanket. I’m just gonna go wrap myself in it and not come out for a while. It’s clearly made for a 6’8″ football player who enjoys pastels, but I can accept that.

Tonight, we made some vegan BBG chickpea burger wraps and fries, with vegan ranch. It may look weird, but I promise it’s all delicious!

Lastly, I bought the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade from Sephora today. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard Anastasia is great for brows.

Does anyone use this brand? I bought it in ‘soft brown.’. I’ve been using the E.L.F. brow set, but the powder crumbled all over into the gel part and is almost gone. I’ll try this and update with how it works.

This girl was snuggling us all night. She looooves to be cuddled underneath a blanket like a cat burrito.

How was your weekend?
How often do you replace your bath towels, bath mats, etc?
Do you ever get excited over buying house stuff??

Watch Me Fall Off of Things

You know that show, Wipeout? Now I am fully aware of why they call it that. Greg and I went to the ROC Race aka Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge this weekend, and we had so much fun. I also fell on my butt a lot.

Greg took his GoPro with him, so we got lots of good video, and I wanted to share some pics of my wipeout expertise.

Jump Balls

More like Jump Ball, because I didn’t see anyone make it past one. So much harder than it looks!! I will keep making fun of those people on Wipeout, but I feel for them. I did jump on the first ball, but after that I flew diagonally and landed like a demented flying squirrel on the ground.

Wrecking Ball

The balls just kept coming back! I thought I was gonna be smooth and duck the first one, but then the other came, then the other one, and then the guy yelled, “No crawling!!” I couldn’t get away from the balls, so I jumped in.

Cool Runnings

Not gonna lie, I was so scared! I busted my butt cheek on the first water slide we went on, but luckily this one was much deeper. Somehow I ended up backwards?? The tube felt like it was flying a million miles an hour.

World’s Largest Inflatable Water Slide

But not as scary as the view from the world’s largest inflatable slide!!! Notice how much Greg is enjoying the ride, with arms up and eyes open, and I am flying down it like a paralyzed cat in a bathtub. We both have our own approaches. His is the more carefree approach, and mine is the, “What have I done? Is that me screaming???” approach.

Would you go on this slide??
Are you into adventurous sports?
What extreme adventure would you try?

Spartan Race NY

This weekend, Greg and completed our first Spartan Race. Despite the fact that it hurts to put on my pants now, we had a lot of fun.

This was the muddiest race I’ve ever run. I must’ve eaten a full mouthful of New York mud.

This race was incredibly hard!! Luckily, Greg was there to help me out, because if you don’t finish an obstacle, you have to do burpees at each one. First of all, the course was on a freakin’ ski resort! There were no flat areas; it was 4 1/2 miles of steep climbs and downhills.

Here are my thoughts on some of the obstacles:

Barb Wire Crawl

Does this look crazy to you? Because it definitely is. It was about the length of a football field uphill, AND a guy was constantly waving a fire hose around, spraying us down. That turned out to be all right, because it made the ground a little squishier and softer on the knees. This obstacle took the longest, because of the distance and amount of people. Also the part where I got the most beat up on my knees and elbows.

Rock Drag

We had a pet rock for a little bit. This part wasn’t too bad. Greg wanted to take it with him for the rest of the race, but there was no stealing of the rocks allowed.

Lateral Climb

Greg tried to help me on this one, but when he reached for my foot, I screamed, “No, no, don’t touch it!!” and promptly fell off the wall.
Spartan Pancake
Carry more heavy shit uphill. They gave us a heavy bean bag type weight and we carried it in a big uphill-downhill loop. Lots of people were using them as cushions while they sat exhausted on the hill. We saw one woman sitting on a log near the top screaming, “Why did I sign up for this???”
Rope Climb
I tried this one, but my upper body was pooped. I felt like a fish trying to climb out of the water. Maybe next time.
High Walls
Greg had to boost me up on a few of the high walls, but it felt incredible scaling them and leaping over the side.
Fire Leap
This is the part where you feel most like a bad-ass, because it’s at the very end, and you have no idea why you just did all of that shit but it feels freakin’ awesome, and now you’re just gonna jump over some fire, ’cause it’s in your way.
Compared to other races I’ve run or been to, the atmosphere was totally different. We didn’t see any costumes during our run on the Spartan Race, which was surprising to me. The Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder seem to be a lot more playful, and the Spartan Race took itself more seriously.
I enjoy the crazy atmosphere of guys dressed like Catwoman, and the more laid-back attitude of the other races. The obstacles on this course were killer, though, and challenged me like I’ve never had before.

They haven’t updated the page with results and photos yet, I hope they do soon!

I’m gonna try to recover my body before we do the ROC Race this weekend!! I’m so excited.

Weekend Adventures

I am SO pooped!! Just spent all morning at the DMV and spent an ungodly amount of money to renew my title and transfer it to Delaware. No sales tax is awesome, but 400 bucks to drive around here?? They are out of their mind!

On the bright side, our 3-day weekend was fantastic. Greg and I took a trip to Ricketts Glen State Park to see PA’s waterfalls, one of which Greg almost immediately fell into. He refused to wear the proper footwear and the first waterfall we get to, he almost tumbles right into. I’m sure he will disagree with the details of this story, but whatever, it’s my blog. Wear proper WATERFALL SHOES!

His beard also came along. We will miss you, beard. He had to shave it off yesterday, because he can’t have it at work, and he is starting back today.

When I get into a woodland-type scenario, I automatically begin to prance everywhere.

The prancing makes me happy.

Greg has a fascination with throwing things into waterfalls. When we were in Niagara Falls, he threw a piece of hard candy tumbling down. Here he is staring wistfully at a stick he just threw in.

These were some crazy big waterfalls! The trail was not easy; we hiked up and down steep stone steps covered with mud and water. We saw a total of 18 waterfalls, the highest of which is 94 feet tall.

I can’t help myself around large, climb-y things.

Did you go anywhere this weekend?
Are you a fan of hiking?

Dirt Cake on the Weekend

Our weekend was very relaxed, because Greg said he had studying to do (HA, like that happened) and we were feeling beat from our week. We went shopping on Saturday for our new camera, which I love and can’t wait to use more.

We did some useful stuff, like get my tires rotated and put the A/C back in, because I was sweating so freaking much last week. Naturally, now I’m freezing!!

Sunday was pancake day (hint: Sunday is ALWAYS pancake day).

Despite me freaking out, because, “We don’t have any vegetable OIL?????” which I learned was donated to Greg’s chicken wing cause, they turned out delicious. I could write a song about how much I love pancakes, but I don’t know the words to describe it.

We also went to see Godzilla, which was really good.

It really put me in the mood for some Jurassic Park. Too bad the new one’s not coming out anytime soon. Need more dinosaurs! Godzilla’s not a dinosaur, obviously, but he was a beast. I wish I could roar like Godzilla; I would scare the shit out of my cats.

Then we made some Vegan Dirt Cake, based off this recipe.

We substituted Trader Joe’s Joe Joe’s for Oreos, because Oreo’s always make my stomach ache. SO good. Tastes just like regular dirt cake.

Are you a fan of dirt cake?
Have you seen Godzilla?
Any movies in theater I should see?

Christmas Shenanigans

To our cats’ excitement, this weekend we put up the Christmas tree. They have since been terrorizing it; luckily, they haven’t taken the whole thing down yet.

As if my cats aren’t already crazy enough by clawing my bed at 6 AM to wake me up, now they have been pouncing at ornaments and dragging the tree skirt everywhere.

Saturday night, we went to go see The Hunger Games (finally!!). It was awesome!! The first part of the movie was killing me; it was so sad. I want to reread the books; I couldn’t remember what was going to happen or how it’s going to go down in the third book.

Bahaha! If you haven’t seen it yet, you will recognize it when it happens.

Last night, we made dinner and rewatched The Avengers, one of my favorite movies. We made Ultimate Chicken Fingers and baked potatoes, NOMM. It was SO good.

Flannel Top: Old Navy // Lacy Top: Urban Outfitters (similar – here or here) // Jeans: Forever 21 (similar) // Socks: Target (similar) // Boots: Steve Madden

I just got some shopping done from the Target Cyber Monday sale. That takes care of the big items I was shopping for, but I am not nearly done yet. Are you shopping today? Any other sites having huge deals?

Flyers Weekend

Pillsbury cinnamon rolls are not a bad way to start your Sunday. You probably already knew that, but damn I love cinnamon rolls. We definitely ate all of these today. Well, I ate three, so you do the math of who ate the rest of them.

The first part of our weekend was spent walking around Philly, with me dragging G to various shops and him browsing Reddit on his phone while I shopped in Sephora. By shopping, I mean trying different eyeshadows and lotions on my hands and walking out empty-handed, because, honestly, if I buy one thing, I might as well buy 18 of them.

We stopped at the Franklin Flea, which was cool. It’s a winter flea market that goes on inside one of the historic buildings there.

I was looking for Christmas gifts, but didn’t find anything. G did find some delicious hot sauce called Hank Sauce; I didn’t try any because I was trying to recover from cramps I had earlier that day, but he bought the Camouflage and thought it was tasty.

Finally, we went to our/my first professional hockey game! We saw the Flyers v the Islanders. We were rooting for the Flyers (who did win), but it was a great game all around. I prefer hockey to baseball or basketball; it’s much more intense! I haven’t been to a pro football game yet.

Are these girls not super cold?? Haha I was wearing a coat and covered up in G’s jacket; looks like they would be freezing.

Krispie Treat Shenanigans

We had a pretty relaxed weekend. Greg left me alone for the first half of the day Saturday again, so this happened:

Trying to take outfit photos, but I actually turn into Gru from Despicable Me every time I wear this scarf.

Do you see the resemblance? Scarf is from Old Navy, by the way.

Saturday night we went out to eat, then went to our favorite bookstore, 2nd and Charles, which also feels like the biggest used bookstore ever. I love that place! I bought a couple books – Into Thin Air and A Lion Called Christian. I also gave Greg a new mission; I want a book about bear attacks. Not really how to survive them; I just want to read about people fighting bears. Sometimes I have weird book cravings.

We also had lunch plans with his parents the next day, so we made these Oreo Rice Krispie Treats to bring with us.

OMG. Talk about making rice krispie treats (which I already love) 1000 times more delicious. It’s seriously hard to eat only one of them. We left a few with his parents and brought the rest home with us. I think there may be two left; they are SOO good.

Sunday we chilled out and Greg watched football while I played Candy Mania and tried not to fall asleep. Then we both ended up taking a nap for an hour before cooking tilapia for dinner – NOM.

Weekend Shenanigans

Hello Monday, you have surprised me yet again. I had a great weekend – I can’t believe it’s already time for me to run around like a hamster with no head at work. That sounds grosser than chicken. Let’s stick with chicken with no head. But I still think a headless hamster would run faster than a headless chicken.

Anyway, this weekend I learned that my cats don’t appreciate dance. Greg left me alone on Saturday, because he volunteered to work the football game. I took the time alone to finally work on the painting I started months ago. I played Alt J’s album while I was painting, and their music definitely has a beat..so the music took me over, and the dancing began. You would think it would be hard to dance and paint at the same time, and it is. But it’s worth it. My cats do not get my dancing, however. Or they were so mesmerized by my interpretive dance skills, they couldn’t stop staring.

Then Greg came home and asked me to please stop doing that, and we went to Old Navy, where I went shopping crazy during their Veteran’s Day sale. I’ll probably post what I found later, but one of my favorites is this huge cozy infinity scarf:

Honeycomb Stitch Infinity Scarf

Then, Sunday we stayed home and cleaned our whole apartment; it needed it bad. I even scrubbed our shower tiles! We also made this DELICIOUS chicken cordon bleu roll-up’s recipe. They were so good, and there was so much swiss cheese – nommm.

We finished up the night by catching up on The Walking Dead. I have no idea who that shirtless guy is, but Norman Reedus is holding a puppy.

Do you watch The Walking Dead? Do you do anything your pets just don’t understand?
