30 Weeks: Weekend Bumpdates

I skipped a week, woops. Last week was the end of my 11-days straight work week, so I was kind of pooped. It was finished off with a three-day weekend, though, which is always fantastic.

These were both taken the same day, but I had to release the belly from the skirt since it feels better when it’s free and wild and unconstricted. The shorts are from Target and have been awesome. I can roll the belly covering part down when I don’t want anything on it.

This week I hit 30 weeks, which is surprising to me, being less than 10 weeks away from my due date. I still have a lot of stuff to do, but some of it I’m waiting on Greg to get back for (like pick a name…no big deal right, no need to freak out! I may freak out a tiny bit, but I do know what I like and have told him, just need to decide for sure when he gets here).

Last week at my doctor’s office, my OB asked me if people said anything about my bump being small and I told her a lot of people have mentioned it. I do not mind at all, and in my uniform people might not be able to tell. She said I have a really long torso, so I think baby has some room to move around in there.

I roll out of bed like a turtle when I get up to go pee at night, but besides that, the belly is a slightly compact size and hasn’t been causing me too much back pain or anything.

Baby is growing lots in this trimester:

Workouts:
Workouts are sporadic and I do them whenever I am feeling good and/or have the time. Today, I went for a walk and it went really well – no ab muscle pain this time, which has been off and on. Although it is HOT here and I didn’t stay out too long.

Every time I go for a walk, I admit I think of one of my favorite Buffy moments. I know there are other BtVS fans. I love Spike and Buffy.

Books:
I had a great accidental library haul the other day. I went in to drop off a book and try to find one more while I was waiting for one I stumbled upon all these. I’m reading Daughter of Smoke & Bone right now, and will hold my thoughts until the end but I will say I am really into it.

Hair:
I dyed my hair this weekend, because my color seemed really golden to me and I wasn’t feeling the light color, anymore. I went for a darker, chocolate shade with Naturtint in light chestnut brown and really like it so far.

I had a fabulously relaxing and much-needed weekend, and I hope you’re off to a good week.

20 Weeks: Weekend Updates

I can’t believe we’ve hit 20 weeks. That is the official halfway mark. Sure, I do have a pile of baby gear in boxes already in my living room, but I haven’t opened any of them and the weeks keep going by. It doesn’t feel like it’s been this long, already!

My cat is literally trying to climb up my butt. It’s very difficult to take pictures sometimes.

Bonus picture of him wanting to be held like a child. He likes to claw my legs until I pick him up or play with him.

Anyway, besides him, my actual human child is still growing. I am feeling good, and I feel more movement, lately. Today baby has been a little chill, but other days it is kicking around a lot and it feels like I’ve got a muscle twinge.

I’m assuming soon I shall grow into my final form, which will be much more uncomfortable. It’s still hard to see in my clothes and I doubt people can tell I’m pregnant, but I’ve definitely gained at least the recommended weight on the scale.

I am so excited about this week! Axolotl’s are my favorite; they’re adorable. Baby is also the size of a banana.

Weekend:
We had an absolutely gorgeous day outside after a rainy week.

Boba is obsessed with going outside, and most of the time he just rolls around in the rocks and leaves, but the other day he bolted into the middle of the street after a bird. I put them back on the cat leashes today, and they did well, although Boba likes to roll around and play with his which leads to him being rolled up in it like a burrito.

I got some walking in; today was pretty sunny and I got wiped after a little bit. My short walks/jogs feel really good most of the time, though.

I love that on the weekends I actually have time to cook a full meal and go out to grab food from places I want.

I made pizza and got tacos, which I eat every week; I actually have a taco day. The people who work at the taco place already know what I order every time, and I have no shame.

I made pancakes, and they were much more successful than last weekend.

Tonight I cooked crispy tofu, vegan biscuits, and a sweet potato. I am in all kinds of a biscuit mood. I am from the South and there are just not enough biscuits around Delaware. I was also impressed with myself that I chopped up cold butter in my recipe. Did I make a huge mess? Yes. Did I burn all the feeling off of one finger? I sure did. But it was totally worth it.

I also went to go see Captain America: Civil War this weekend. I love all the Marvel movies, although I have my favorites (Avengers & Thor!). This one was great, but much darker than the other Avenger movies. It was missing Thor, but I loved all the surprise people in it, and it still had its’ few funny moments.

Hope you had a great weekend!

17 Weeks: Weekend Updates

This weekend totally flew by, but it was great, and I’m already ready for a nap this morning.

The baby front is still going well. 17 weeks feels good and I’m trying to enjoy it while it lasts. They say that you get an energy boost during the second trimester, and I sometimes feel extra energetic, but mostly I am appreciative of not feeling like the walking zombie I was during the first trimester.

Baby is now about the size of a small onion! That seems similar to an avocado to me, which was the size before this.

I also read that you are supposed to have an increased appetite during the second trimester. Um, that has been the case since week 8 or so! If my appetite increased more than it did then, I would be constantly inhaling food. It’s actually allowing me to enjoy some of my normal foods again. I ate a sweet potato skin the other day. Major step forward. I usually eat the skin of my potatoes, but they have been grossing me out for several weeks.

I recently got sofritas aka tofu at Chipotle and it is delicious and full of protein, which I seem to need always.

This weekend was stuffed full, because I had to get all my shopping and housework done on Saturday.

Saturday:
I brought back a bunch of books from my mom’s house and filled up my bookshelf. Turns out I rebought a bunch of books that I didn’t even realize I already had at her house. Woops. At least it’s only the ones I loved enough to buy twice.

I finished reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I found this cute collection’s edition at Target. I love the illustrations in the front and back covers.

Sunday:
We went to Hershey Park for their Military Appreciation Day. It was wonderful, even though I did not want to get up early and come back to work this morning after all the walking we did. I did not take pics of all the food, but there were crab fries, Dippin Dots, and Red Robin sweet potato fries consumed and all were amazing.

I did not ride any of those rides – nope, not at all. I did ride the cars ride that takes you around a little track. We managed to break the ride and somehow disable the car and started rolling backwards down a hill, but luckily no one was behind us and the turn in the track eventually stopped us XD. We had to get a worker to come rescue us and restart out little lawn mower motor car.

Hope you had a great weekend and your Monday is not too rough!

A Who and Star Wars Weekend

I have to confess that I didn’t put up a tree this year. Or decorations. Or anything. I’m only home for two weeks this year, so it didn’t seem worth it. We will have to double up everything next year for a double Christmas, when I hope things are more settled down. This time is a little crazy.

My cat got this box for Christmas. As you can tell, she loves it a lot. She sat in it for about 5 minutes, then was over it.

Movies:

We went to see Star Wars, and it was awesome. I’m not a huge Star Wars nerd (Harry Potter all the way), but I enjoyed it.

There was a guy at my work who came in complaining about it, but he can just get over himself. I hate when people nitpick movies to sound like they are cool.

Also, BB8 was one of the cutest things about this movie.

Purchased:

I get excited about things like getting a cute new welcome mat.

Watching:

We finally caught up on the most recent three episodes of Doctor Who! I thought this season was really good, although I definitely want to rewatch it and some of the other recent seasons, because I like seeing them all together.

The Christmas episode was especially good this year, I thought. How cute were the Doctor and River?

I mean, there were so many great moments. Not a spoiler, but when they went in the TARDIS, it was hilarious. They are adorable, and I thought it was nice to finally have just them together.

I also want to steal every piece of her wardrobe this episode. All the sparkling dresses!

Food:

Hello, I am a cookie addict. I make cookies every week, and this week is oatmeal chocolate chip. These are from a mason jar mix Greg got me for Christmas, but here’s a similar recipe which is basically the same ingredients.

How was your Christmas weekend? Did you see any good movies/TV?

Weekending: Travel Edition # 2

Guess what? I only have one more week of training time near this lovely beach, and this coming weekend I get to fly back home for Christmas for a couple weeks! That means that soon I get to snuggle my kitty cats.

I also get to see what kind of groceries my husband has been keeping in the house in the three weeks I’ve been gone. I’m guessing there’s going to need to be a trip to the grocery store.

I would not be good at traveling for work. I’m unraveling here. I need my blankets and my tiny apartment.

Running:

I did a decent amount of running this weekend and today. Don’t be fooled; it was immediately followed by laying there like a giant two-legged potato. My legs don’t actually hurt that much after I run, but my ovaries still hate me. Don’t ask me why.

I’ve been running with other people a couple times, which is really fun, but also makes me run faster. My body should take it easy, but my mind says go go go.

Usually, when I run in my own neighborhood, I do a mix of walking and running, but lately, I feel great while I’m running but not great later. I know if I just ease up a bit, it will feel a little better.

Food:

I ate all the foods this weekend. The people in my group wanted to go out to eat a couple times, and we were able to get away from our hotel rooms and relax . The first time was a little hard to find vegan food, but I made it work with some salad and fries and a tall glass of cider. No pictures, because I devoured it all. Next, I convinced them to stop at Mellow Mushroom, because I knew I could order a vegan pizza there. Yummmm. Next time, I’ll order it without cheese, and just toppings.

I also took myself to Moe’s for a burrito bowl and Sonic for a strawberry slushy and some tots. The only thing that could be better is if they still had sweet potato tater tots.

Then, I found these babies at Target, and you better believe I bought them. I tried one today, and they taste just like pumpkin pie.

Movies:

I went to go see Mockingjay Part 2, and I enjoyed it. It was a nice end to the series, even if I’m not sure if they needed two parts.

I knew it was going to be sad, and I was also terrified during one scene. If you’ve seen it, you probably know which one. I knew it was coming, but it was so scary!

I thought I made it past all the sad parts and hadn’t started crying yet, but then there is a certain animal part that I totally lost it at.

How was your weekend? Have you seen any new movies?

Weekending: Traveling Edition

This is definitely a weird weekend. Not that anything totally unbelievable happened, but I am so out of my routine.

I am on a month and a half trip for training for my part time job, which I will say most of the time takes one weekend a month. This trip is a bit long, but I have a break during Christmas and New Year’s.

The hotel is super glamorous, if you are into sinks in your bedroom, no A/C (I’m in Mississippi; it’s about 70 degrees F and hotter in my room), and trains driving by all night every couple hours, within a half a mile from the door. And cooking? Who needs to cook, when you’re equipped with a microwave? I’m homesick, guys. But I’ll be alright.

I did carry my complaining butt to the gym every day this weekend, since we had a three day weekend and not many plans.

The gym was brand new and nice (same gym I go to in Delaware, different location), although no one was there most of the time. Mississippi is not into early weekend workouts, or the gym isn’t that popular yet, maybe. On the bright side, I didn’t have to feel weird about doing squats in the mirror.

The beach looks pretty; I only stopped to take a pic and didn’t get out, because there are mainly casinos along the coast. I heard a bunch of fireworks the other night, though, so somebody was getting their party on.

I went shopping at Target and tried on a few things. I found a cute pair of high waisted green pants and an asymmetrical sweater, but ended up only getting a long black cami to wear with leggings and a workout top that was on clearance (see pink top above).

I accidentally left my flats at home, so I had to wear flip flops in December, but it seems to be totally normal here!

I’ve been watching a lot of Friends. I’m starting season 5, now. Phoebe had a super cute pug puppy in an episode last season, and I wanted to steal it.

I also took myself out to see The Night Before and I enjoyed it very much. I definitely recommend it. It was funny and dirty, but also kind of sweet. I started to tear up, because it made me miss my husband, but that would probably not be the normal response haha.

How was your weekend? I’m going to eat more double stuff Oreo’s, because there’s no one here to stop me.

I’m linking up with Biana at B Loved Boston for Weekending.

Gorgeous Day

Happy Monday! We are having one day of gorgeous weather here before winter returns.

Welcome to the week of crazy and Tofurky! Tofurky everywhere! By that I mean there is one Tofurky, and I will be the only one eating it at our table.

Greg and I are getting ready to travel to my mom’s house. We are leaving in just a couple days, so I’m in crazy mode right now. It’s about a 9-10 hour drive in regular traffic.

We spent the weekend watching movies and getting everything ready.

We went to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt 1, and it was as good as I thought it would be. I’m not great at remembering details (even though I read all the books twice), but I think it follows the book closely. I won’t say too much for anyone who hasn’t seen it, but I felt very much the same as I did after reading the book after seeing it. I’m so nervous about watching the next movie after seeing this one.

My only complaint would be needs more Haymitch.

We made vegan roasted red pepper mac and cheese for dinner with some broccoli and garlic bread. It’s going up there as one of my favorite vegan mac and cheese recipes – so delicious. Recipe from the Post Punk Kitchen.

Then, I made some chocolate chip cookie bars.. can you believe these have no flour??

They are made with chickpeas instead of flour. Greg refused to eat them, because obviously chickpea cookies are inedible to males. I couldn’t taste the chickpeas at all; they taste like peanut buttery cookie bars to me. Recipe from Tone It Up.

Finally, we watched Undefeated on Netflix. I wanted to see it because I know Greg’s into sports movies and I had seen it recommended on Helene’s blog.

I’m not really a sports movie kind of girl, but I was moved by this documentary. It’s about the relationship between a coach and a high school football team of inner city kids, what he teaches them, and the kinds of opportunities that they have to work for. This showed me growing up in a different way and how a team can be everything in someone’s life, making the difference between whether they succeed or not. I’d recommend it; it shows sports differently and the positive impact they have.

Have you seen Mockingjay? How did you feel about it?

New Hair Color

I hope you had a great weekend. I had to work all weekend at drill, boooooo. But, Thursday, I treated myself to a haircut and color since I only go a couple times a year (with good reason, holy dye cost, Batman..)

I showed my stylist a bunch of super ombred out pictures, but she knows better and gave me a much more subtle chestnut with lots of variation…so far, I like it, although it took a while to grow on me.

I’m still holding onto my dreams of Rachel McAdams blonde (I’ve pinned it three times without realizing it) and Ariel red.

Friday, I shopped around in Nordstrom with a mission in mind to try on the Hue jeggings. I found them and I’m still thinking about them, but didn’t buy anything, and took an OOTD picture in their dressing room, anyway.

Top: Francesca’s (similar or similar) // Sweater: J. Crew Factory // Jeggings: Uniqlo // Boots: Steve Madden

I wouldn’t buy these boots, now, being vegan and all, but I bought them at least 4 years ago, and they are still going strong *knock on wood.* I always get comments on them and their distressed look. The distress is very, very real. They have been through snow, etc, but some Dr. Martens shoe balsam does wonders.

And, what is going on in your dressing rooms, Nordstrom?

Seriously, what is happening? There’s a bulge…

My phone should get here in a couple days!! I’m so excited! I’ve had my Iphone for two years, now, and I still love it, except that the battery has been depleting like lightning, lately. Not cool if I get stranded with no phone.

How was your weekend?
Do you have a favorite jegging brand/style?

The Magic Apparating Car

I know, bad bad blogger! I took a week off, which turned into a month.. But hi :).

Please let me tell you a story about me being dumb so that you will hopefully forget all about this.

I went to the car dealership today to get my oil changed etc, and the guy looked at my car while we are in the garage, taking down the mileage on his paper. Then, he asked me to come over to his desk (still inside the garage). So, my back was turned to where we left my car.

About 30 seconds later, I see a car just like mine pull up in the lane in front of me, and I say, “OOH, another one!!” I have a unique-looking car, so I get excited when I see another (it looks like this).

The guy looked at me and said nothing, but I could tell what he was thinking.

I realized my terrible mistake about five seconds later.. that is my car. My car is able to move from behind me to in front of me without the use of magic or cloning itself. I was laughing so hard, I can be so dumb sometimes.

Last month, for my birthday, Greg took me to see Wicked, which has been my dream for a long time. Basically, it was one of the most amazing things we’ve ever seen and there were tears. Mine, not Greg’s. He didn’t even shed any over my restaurant choices.

We got asked by a ton of people in costumes to take pictures with them. Just don’t go near those guys dressed as Woody, ’cause that is effing creepy.

The vegan restaurants we tried were delicious!! My favorites are still closer to home, in Philly. Not that I’m going to argue with any burger with two onion rings on it. This is the Skyscraper from Blossom du Jour.

Have you been to see any musicals or shows?
Which ones do you want to see?

Sunday Thoughts

Three day weekends are the best – it feels weird (actually, fabulous) not to have to work on Monday.

My favorite fashion find this week is this inexpensive dress from Forever 21. I accidentally left the $12.80 tag on it for a good couple hours while I was out, but who cares…share the sale.

I admit most of my day revolves around food. Mostly the eating, not so much the cooking. If you need someone to eat your food, please invite me. I don’t mean to brag, but I can consume plenty of food.

Greg and I pooled our powers together (okay, mostly his) to cook our favorite tofu recipe, General Tso’s Tofu. I could eat endless bowls – SO GOOD. Homemade General Tso’s sauce is crazy delicious. And I like my tofu best fried in yummy oil.

We were planning to visit Washington, D.C. this weekend.

We set the alarm.

We turned the alarm off.

And slept till 10:30 AM.

It was fantastic… I lie in bed thinking, “Put clothes on or sleep?” Ummmmm, we doesn’t need clothes, hobbitses.

We went to see Let’s Be Cops, and I was prepared for it to be a disaster, but it was hilarious. It doesn’t beat The Other Guys or 21 Jump Street for me, but I enjoyed it. You should probably just watch all of those, because they’re all great buddy comedies.

How is/was your weekend?
Have you seen any good movies, lately?
