Friday Favorites

It’s Friday! For a lady with no job, that doesn’t mean quite the same, but I’ve been busy enough. We have lots of stuff going on. It’s been nice to have time off; I almost wish it could last longer.

Favorite Food:

Leftover vegan cheesesteak burrito from Dos Segundos in Philadelphia. It has seitan carne asada, vegan cheese, lettuce, fried yuca, onions, and smoked mushroom ketchup. They have regular and vegan options and make really good Mexican food there.

Favorite TV Show:

We just finished watching all of Friends! It’s all I’ve been watching for a couple months, so I may experience withdrawals. What should I watch next?

Favorite Night:

Paint Nite was a lot of fun. The lady next to us had plenty of wine so she was fun to talk to. It’s crazy to see how different everyone’s paintings come out. We went with a couple friends and everyone had a good time. I can’t believe how much painting you can do in two hours.

Favorite Recipe:

I tried a new version of flourless chickpea peanut butter chocolate chips blondies and they were just as good as the original. It uses maple syrup instead of sugar, so I may like this one slightly better.

It’s finally Friday, but I am still a sad panda, because I have to work this weekend! Boooo. I am going to try to enjoy it, anyway. I literally just stuffed my face with tacos, so I’m on the right path, clearly. To indigestion and sleepiness. But also, FUN.

Favorite Outfit:

Sweater: AE (old: similar) // Belt: Target (old: similar) // Dress: Target via ThredUp (similar) // Boots: ModCloth (old: similar) // Socks: Target (old: similar) // Necklace: Target

I think we can all agree that sweater weather is perfect weather. Boots and a dress are easy to wear, and right now I don’t have to wear leggings or tights, because it’s still warm enough.

Favorite Natural Food Store Find:

We went to the natural food store, and I found what appears to be one of the ingredients to making Polyjuice Potion. Seriously, does anyone need to restock their potions ingredients cabinet, because I have your bladderwrack right here.

I think Severus Snape might have used this on his enemies – horn of bladderwrack. I’m going to fall into a fit of Harry Potter giggles.

Favorite Weather:

Fall walks and runs are the best!! Look at these colors! I wish fall could stick around for half the year.

Favorite Drink:

Watermelon soda. Because I am instantly regretting not getting watermelon soda at the taco restaurant today. I always get the watermelon soda before I leave, but there was a crowd when I went back in to refill. Should have barreled through like The Hulkersaurus Rex I really am inside when it comes to watermelon drink.

Favorite Video:

You’ve seen the bouncing pug, but you will reach a new level of excitement when you see a corgi bouncing.

Favorite Moment:

I was listening to the radio and clearly heard the announcer in an ad for a movie say, “Everyone is raving about The Penis Movie.”

I’m going to admit that I was equal parts intrigued and alarmed.

Then he repeated, “Go out to see The Peanuts Movie this weekend.” That makes more sense. I’m kind of sad there’s not a Penis Movie, but that makes sense.

Things That Make Me Happy, Lately

I don’t know if I am in an appropriate emotional state to blog right now, but I’m going to give it a go. You see… I’ve just watched the final episode of Game of Thrones season 6.

If you watch it, you will understand I am having emotions right now. And possibly weeping openly while wrapped in a blanket on my couch. These things happen. I immediately consulted entertainment blogs afterward to console myself and pretend that a certain character is fine and to read any news on the next season.

In the meantime, I am going to share some things that are making me happy, lately.

Veggie Burgers:

We went to Drop Squad Kitchen, an all vegan restaurant near us, for Fourth of July and the burger there was great. I won’t say no to a good veggie burger. They had a nice chargrilled taste, like they were fresh off a grill. Also came with kale salad, potato salad, and sweet potato chips.

Lush Henna:

I tried Lush henna for my hair, and I didn’t come out looking like the Little Mermaid! Although, secretly, I would like to. I have been looking for a vegan-friendly hair dye, and decided to try Lush’s. I used the Caca Rouge, which is supposed to be red, but over my brown hair, it gave it a reddish tint, and showed up brighter on highlighted bits.

They are not kidding when they say this stuff is messy, though. We had to sweep and mop afterward, and next time I will be enlisting Greg’s help, because it is hard to put on by yourself. He ended up helping me halfway through.

I just watched the instructional video on their website, and I would like to try again to try to get mine to look the same as hers when she mixed it. I think I made mine a little thick.

Shopping Find:

Speaking of vegan stuff, I found this faux leather jacket during Urban Outfitters’ extra 30% sale. I feel kinda like I should use it to hunt vampires or something. I couldn’t find the exact, but there is a similar one here.

TV Show:
Obviously, Game of Thrones. I’m going to need to recover from that last episode. I’ll be in my bunk.

Is it weird that I want to see more of Iwan Rheon, because he is fascinating to watch act, but I want someone to push his character off a cliff?

Not A Creature Was Stirring – Friday Favorites

Despite yesterday starting out totally poopy at work, I’m happy it’s Friday! Some people at work drive me crazy by making everything a big deal, when it’s just a small thing. I try not to let them bother me. Too bad I have to work this weekend (at my once a month job), but I’m still hoping to get in some good food and relaxing.

Favorite Makeup:

I heard about Too Faced Melted on MakeupAddiction on Reddit, and tried them. I can say, wow.. if you want bright, these are definitely them.
They have great staying power, even when some comes off when I drink/eat. The color is usually still bright afterward. Not saying it won’t come off on food and everything else when you eat – that shit will get on all your napkins! But it will still be on your lips when you’re done.
I’ve also never had anything with such amazing color, before, with no weird texture.

I bought the set of four minis at Sephora, which seems to be sold out, now. You can still buy individual lipsticks in the full size, with lots of color options. I like all the ones that came in the set, especially the nude and fuschia.

Most days, I just use my favorite lip balm I tried out, because I am too lazy to put on lipstick before leaving the house. This one feels awesome on my lips and has lots of color, too.

Favorite Food:

I made vegan zucchini brownies all for myself this week, because Greg doesn’t eat any baked good with a vegetable in it. I thought about tricking him, but that would just be cruel… Not saying I wouldn’t do it. But at least I get to have more later. I stuck a ton in the freezer to eat next week.

I took out a good chunk of the sugar and replaced it with a banana, because the recipe is pretty sugar-heavy. They turned out nice and soft, though, and you can always taste the batter to see if it needs more sugar.

Favorite Purchase:

I just ordered these boots today. Last year’s winter made me realize I need a pair of snow boots. We had temperatures of -10 F, and my feet were always freezing, especially when we went to an outdoor concert. This year, I want to keep my feet warm and dry.

I really hope these work – they are the Kamik Seattle boot. I liked that they can fold down into the shorter boot, or you can wear them as a tall boot for more coverage. It is hard to find vegan snow boots!

Favorite Outfit:

I’d like one of everything from Spool 72. Everything is cute and cozy and I could wear their oversize knit sweaters everyday.

Friday Favorites: Hark the Winter Winds

How is your winter weather faring? It was so nice outside the other day, and now we have snow flurries!!

Favorite Cats:
It is not just me, even the cats are cold. They snuggled together in the warmest room in the house. I’ve been waking up to lots of kitty cuddles next to me.

Favorite Household Item:
This is more like on my wishlist, because I have had crazy cramps all day and the heating pad is my best friend. But wouldn’t a heated blanket be even better??? Greg suggested it, but I actually argued that I would probably never get up if I had it. I would crawl inside it and wrap up like a caterpillar.

Favorite Book:
I am reading Dragonfly in Amber, the second book in the Outlander series, by Diana Gabaldon. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to love it as much as number one, but Outlander is one of my favorites. If you are looking for some characters you can stick with and some historical (but fun & serious all at the same time) romance, I would suggest it.

Favorite Purchase:
I’m sensing a theme here of warm things & things to do while staying warm… My other jacket got eaten by the washer, so I bought a real winter jacket. So far, I approve very much. It even has little sleeves inside the arms so that the cold air doesn’t get inside.

Favorite TV Show:
This season is already finished?? I feel like I need a Who rewatch, after I finish all the Gilmore Girls on Netflix. Did you watch the last episode? I have feelings but not as many as with the Amy/Rory episodes. Maybe it will get there. Is it just me or are there way more explosions this season?

Friday Favorites: Cat Swagger

Despite finding a spider in my shower this morning (HELLLOOO not the best surprise first thing in the morning), it has been a decent week and I can’t wait for the weekend to begin. I had to work all last weekend, so it will be the first day off in a while.

Favorite Purchase:

I finally bought the Hue jeggings I had been looking at for a couple weeks, after my Old Navy ones starting wearing out (why does Old Navy stretch denim always stretch out after a few wears?).

Then Kathy posted about these and they seemed a million times better. So far, so good, after one wear. They are definitely more legging than the Old Navy brand, so I’m crossing my fingers for them. They fit really well.

You can see the texture a little better here. I promise they are blue.

Favorite Workout:
I did yoga today, and it felt great. When it first started, I thought it might be a little slow, but it flew by and I was burning during most of it.

Some of you may be more experienced, but my legs were shaking like a leaf when I tried some of the moves. It felt soo good, which is weird.

Favorite App:
I just downloaded Run Sackboy, Run a couple days ago and want to play it all day. The graphics are adorable.

I actually have Little Big Planet, but my Playstation collects dust. I’m much more likely to play a game on my phone than use any type of console, because I can play this anytime.

He’s so cute, and you can earn points for even cuter costumes, like a unicorn.

Cat Pose:
Boba in his swagger pose. He hangs out like this all the time, and he’s just asking for me to grab his toes.

Favorite TV Show:
Gilmore Girls, because there is nothing like rewatching their mother/daughterness. It makes my heart all warm and fuzzy.

Friday Favorites – Fashion & Food

It’s time again for my favorites this week. I’m working all weekend, so I’m going to fuel myself up aka stuff my face with Chipotle tomorrow to hopefully get me through.

Favorite Fashion:

I got this colorful top in from my Groopdealz order and it’s awesome. Not that soft on the inside, because it has an extra layer/liner, but the material didn’t bother me all day. I don’t think the top is on Groopdealz anymore, but you can still get it at Lucy and Lyla.

Favorite Bag:

I’m not usually a fan of Betsey Johnson or over the top accessories, but the bow + leopard print is adorable.

Favorite Food:

We made these cookies last weekend, but you are just going to have to believe us, because we ate them all before I could take any pictures. Don’t be scared away by the vegan part – my husband is not vegan and still devoured them.

Crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle…perfect!!

Favorite Moment:

Probably when my cat got his head stuck in the handle of the brown paper recycle bag and ran around like an idiot until the handle ripped off. And he also sat contentedly on the package from my new top.

Favorite Funnies:
Hahahaha..Love whoever this Nevada person is.

Favorites: All About the Books

Is it Friday already? I am usually so excited for Friday, but I have drill this weekend AKA work, and why can’t I just lay on the couch with cats. Whatever, I’m still going to try to sneak some wine in this weekend.

Favorite Book:
I just finished the Divergent trilogy, and I’m still calling it my favorite read, lately, even though I cried my eyeballs out. It did not go as I expected, nope not at all.

Now I’m reading Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson. It’s about a woman who has a certain type of amnesia which makes her forget all of her adult memories every time she falls asleep and wakes in the morning.

It’s going to be a movie soon, with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. It’s good so far – it’s intriguing and I want to find out what the hell is really going on here.

Favorite Food:
Is it still a problem if you have no plans to change it? Let’s just call it a situation…I have a tortilla chip situation, to the point where the idea of making my own tortilla chips is sounding delicious.

Favorite Running Shoe:
I just bought a new pair of Brooks to run in – Brooks Ghost 7, but they are NOT my favorite, not yet at least. I bought them to replace my old Brooks, but I miss my old pair and wish these fit as well. I’m still giving them a chance, trying to break them in.

But I’m considering trying another, because Nike has some cute options, like these Luna Forever 3‘s.

Any favorites with decent cushioning?

Friday Favorites: Dog Torpedo

This week has gone by really fast, because I have felt a little off schedule lately. I guess a fast week is good when it leads to a three day weekend! Greg started class back this week, and I’m still trying to adjust to his new college schedule.

Favorite Beauty Item:
I am sure I am the last one to know about this, but Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner rocks. I love how liquidy it is and it feels nice going on my eyes. As long as a cat doesn’t attack my legs while I’m doing it, it usually goes on smooth.

It lasts alllll day, and doesn’t smudge.

Favorite Video:
Jimmy Fallon’s lip sync battles are my favorite. I don’t even watch his show, but his games are the best. I’ve watched all of the lip sync battles, and this one gave me new appreciation for Paul Rudd.

Favorite Nail Polish:I decided to give Wet n Wild nail polish a shot, since this bottle was only two dollars at Target. I love it – so glossy, and it comes with this huge brush that fits perfectly the shape of my fingers. I bought it in Wet n Wild Sugar Coat.

Favorite Workout Gear:Found this workout tank at Dick’s Sporting Goods AND it was on sale, sweet. It’s soft and long, so it will be great for over capri leggings, when it gets cooler outside. It’s still on sale here, and they also have it in black.

Favorite Funnies:Inception bucket.

Friday Favorites: Where’s the PIZZA??

Happy Friday! Tonight is a late night at work, but after that is sweet freedom. I can’t wait for the weekend – I need to shop for some new running shoes and sleep and eat lots of food. All the foods.

Favorite Photo:
These two pretend to not get along, and then we catch them like this.

Favorite Food:
We made this vegan pizza, with peppers and homemade vegan parmesan cheese. Soooo goood. Minimalist Baker is probably my favorite recipe site.

Favorite Beauty Item:
This glow in the dark nail polish is sitting in my Amazon cart, and it is tempting to check out. I also have a couple others in there, like Too Yacht to Handle. This is how people end up with 200 nail polishes.

Favorite App:
I finally did it – I downloaded the Kim Kardashian game. I’ve never seen an episode of Meet the Kardashians in my life, but I’m enjoying this game!! I think I’m supposed to be becoming a model/fashion/pop star mutant hybrid. All I know is, Willow Pape needs to get off my back.

Favorite Funnies:
The best sexting..

I just sit down for a minute, and then “Oh look, Jurassic Park is on.”

I’ve ridden this ride before.

LOL the Hulk…”Is that Paul Rudd?” Also where did that tiny woman come from?
