Friday Favorites

I have a lot of updates I could talk about, but it’s Friday and that is a fabulous day, so I’m going to share some favorites.

… Shirt
I don’t usually buy any clothes full price if I can avoid it, but I accidentally wandered out of the clearance baby clothes section at Target, and I had to get this shirt. It also has a cute tulip cut back – I’m so excited for Ellie to wear it. We found some cute tees on clearance for her – I stalk the baby section every week to see what’s new.

… Hair Product
Renpure Cleansing Conditioner – I heard about this conditioner which both cleans and conditions your hair, so you don’t have to use shampoo with it. So far, so good. I have oily-prone hair, and it has been soft and not oily since starting to use this every other day. I’ve still been using regular shampoo and conditioner about once a week, just so I get a shampoo in but it may be fine without it.

… Food
A magical mom friend online sent me a box of cookies! There was a story that involved Greg eating all the cookies and me complaining (I get hangry without dessert), so she sent me lots of cookies. I am thinking the stroopwafels look especially delicious.

… Baby book
Ellie has taken a big interest in this 100 First Words book. She’s started pointing at the different pictures, and I like to read it with her.

… Project
Greg built Ellie a dollhouse bookcase! He’s really amazing at woodworking, and we’d seen these style bookcases on Pinterest, so he found some plans and we changed the sizes to work for what we wanted. It took a few weekends and now she has a custom bookcase! He did 99% of the work – I just made the plan on Photoshop and helped him paint a few parts.

Have you tried any stroopwafels? What books should I put on my baby book wishlist? Hope you have a fantastic Friday and weekend.

Friday Favorites

… Fall – The weather is finally changing and leaves are falling. I’m looking forward to scarves and having the windows open for a little bit.

… Harry Potter things – Did everyone else get excited that you can discover your Patronus? I was surprised by my result.

… Pumpkin macarons – I bought these at Trader Joe’s and they totally exceeded expectations. So delicious!

… Budget Bytes recipe – I made spinach tomato quesadillas, which came out pretty well. I made four and stuck them in the freezer so I could eat them all week.

… Phone case – I’m still on the lookout for a phone case. Luckily, I should have plenty of time since my phone probably won’t get here till November. I’d love a Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid one. Maybe something like this. Or I might go with the clear case I have now.

… Fall clothes – My baby is due literally tomorrow, so I’m hoping I can wear normal clothes eventually. I have no plans for shopping, but it will be time to break out the fall clothes soon.

… Greg points moment – That time that he told me he thought I already had makeup on and he was serious, even though I didn’t believe him at first. + so many points for him.

… Due date – Happy due date this weekend, baby. She’s due the 24th but hasn’t made her move, yet.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Friday Favorites

I would be happier if it was next Friday, since that’s the next time I am off, but I will take what I can get. Here’s hoping it gets less crazy hot this weekend!

Favorite Conditioner:
I picked up this based sheerly off smell, and it smells even more majestic once it is in my hair. If you see it on the shelf, inhale it; it is amazing.

Favorite Eyeliner:
My old Pixi eyeliner from Target was running a bit dry, so I decided to splurge and get a Kat Von D liner from Sephora. It’s so smooth, I love it. It’s also a cruelty-free brand.

Favorite Recipe:
I struggle to find a use for my vegan protein powder, even though I need lots and lots of protein right now. I am not a smoothie person most mornings. I usually want some almond butter toast or oatmeal. But on the weekends, when I have a little extra time, I make vegan protein pancakes, and they are pretty delicious. Also, it only takes a few ingredients (I use almond milk instead of water, because I like milk in pancakes). Once you go maple, you never go back to the regular syrup.

Favorite Purchase:
Our old dish rack was from IKEA, and it was great for a while but had started to rust, and I don’t want to dry my dishes on a rusty rack. We had a bamboo rack before which lasted for a while, so I’m giving it another shot and got this one. It’s actually great at holding almost anything so far. We have a very limited space on our counter, so it can be hard to find a good compact one.

Favorite Moment:
When Greg sent me baby stuff. He knows me so well.

Favorite Accomplishment:
Cleaning things and going through stuff in the garage and underneath the bed last weekend. Now I have a small bag of donation stuff, and I was able to get this tub half-empty. There’s still more to go and I am trying to make room everywhere, but every little bit helps.

Favorite Pregnancy Moment:
How I feel when anyone comments on my size. Usually, it’s disbelief when I tell them I am 7 months along.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Favorite Clothes:
I would love to wear this to the gym when I can wear normal tank tops again (I could still probably for now, but it wouldn’t last very long):

Favorite Food:

I might leave off the spicy ingredients, but doesn’t this tofu look so good? I can’t believe it’s tofu.

Favorite Movie Trailer:
I’m so excited about Doctor Strange. I’m excited about every Marvel movie, and have seen them all so far.

Favorite Funnies:

Why buy a new hoodie when one is already broken in?

Friday Favorites

I hope you’re having a fabulous Friday! Yesterday I tried to turn off the lights in one room by turning them on in another room, and I had a dream that a Petsmart worker cut off all my hair. Pregnancy brain is weird. I am actually working this weekend again, but I still have lots of things I am excited about.

Favorite Purchase:

I’m going to an event today that I wanted to look nice for, and I knew that I would prefer to wear a dress. However, I don’t have any dresses that I am comfortable in right now and that would be acceptable attire, so I checked Old Navy and got lucky that they had a few maxi dresses. This one is really soft, fit well, and I will be comfortable enough there that I should be able to wear it all day.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m from the South, but when I see a biscuit slathered with butter and jelly, I cannot help myself. I made these last weekend and they are so yummy.. I drool just looking at pictures of biscuits. I admit that sometimes I will sit at work and stare at recipes for an hour or two, planning for later. I stocked a bunch of these up in my freezer, so that I can have a biscuit stash when needed.

Favorite Health/Beauty Items:

It’s safe to say I bought this mascara strictly because it had unicorns on it. I was in Target, minding my own business, when I was suddenly confronted with pretty unicorns and I was powerless. It turns out it is a really good mascara. I’ve tried it a couple times so far and it’s worked well. It has a twisty part at the top so that you apply it twice – first for length, and then for volume. It really does give me longer-looking lashes.

I also bought Pacifica sea foam face wash, because it had been out of stock for some time at my Target and when I saw it was back, I scooped it up. This stuff smells heavenly. I am scent-sensitive right now, and I love the way this smells. It’s light, sweet, clean, and sea-like.

Favorite Workout:

I went for a run and actually did three miles! It was alternating running/walking, but it’s the most I’ve done in a while! We had absolutely beautiful weather after several days of rain and clouds, so I was antsy to get outside, and I ran like an antelope. At least, I felt like I ran like an antelope. In reality, I probably ran like a drunken squirrel, but it felt amazing.

Friday Favorites

It’s finally Friday, and it’s an especially great Friday because I realized I only work three days next week. Monday is our off day and next Friday I have an event I requested to go to. Mucho bueno.

Today I’m wearing pants that won’t zip, planning to eat Chipotle, and will be living the unemployed life in a couple weeks. My life is not completely together. I believe there is supposed to be some sort of plan for this thing, or a diagram or something. Possibly a pie chart would be helpful. Somebody give me a laser pointer and I will get it together.

Favorite Workout:

My workouts now are basically jogging until my belly’s uncomfortable, then walking, then jogging, etc. Maybe I can get more inventive once my schedule changes. I try to get my walks in after work, so I’ve only got about half an hour or so.

My other favorite pastime is looking at photos from a couple months ago and thinking how small my belly was. I’m sure in a couple months I will do the same with these photos. But my belly feels so bloated by the end of the day! It’s so much smaller in the morning and slowly gets bigger throughout the day.

Favorite Purchase:

Confession: I have bought cat leashes before (photo from last year). Confession two: One of my cats is now too fat for her cat leash. So I have now bought cat leashes twice, because obviously my cat needs size large. They are obsessed with outside, but our neighborhood’s too busy to let them run around.

Favorite Food:

Couscous is one of my favorite things to cook, because I am looking out for things with lots of protein, and this is so good and easy to make. You boil water, olive oil, and the spice pack and then add the couscous and let it sit there off the heat and it magically fluffs up. It’s like a chia pet, but way more delicious and better for you. Disclaimer: don’t eat chia pets.

Favorite Funnies:
When my upstairs neighbors decide to start playing loud Latin music at 8:30 PM on a Thursday night. This is an ongoing problem. Apartment life.

“Borrowing” things.

Getting ready for the day:

Happy Friday! Have a fantastic weekend!

Friday Favorites

I have been cranky a little bit this week, but only up and down cranky. Sometimes I’m totally fine and then three hours later I am ready to let loose a wave of emotions. But there were good parts about this week, and I am so happy to be right next to the weekend!

Favorite Outdoors Time:

I actually ran for a little bit Wednesday and yesterday. Wednesday I was uncomfortable after several minutes, but yesterday I was able to run a little longer – and I didn’t have to pee. Yay! I am not used to sitting at a desk all day and if I don’t get some outside air, I turn into a gremlin.

There’s been more daylight, lately, so I am able to get outside for a quick walk/run after work. I already wake up at the butt crack of dawn, so early morning workout is not happening right now.

Favorite Food:

I’m eating eggs, so this isn’t a substitute for me, but man oh man was this delicious! Adding vegetable broth really does give it a good flavor. I put mine in a tortilla and cooked it up with cheese quesadilla style.

Favorite Shopping:
I feel like I’m winning:

I recently found this feature on my Target Cartwheel app to show me how much I’ve saved compared with my Facebook friends, and it’s been made into a competition. I buy half my groceries there once a week, so I have an unfair advantage.
Favorite Funnies:
My brain everyday due to hormones:
If I could stop crying at work, that would be grreeeeaaat. Yesterday I got something sent back to me that I didn’t know how to fix, so I literally started crying every time I looked at it, and then I felt ridiculous for crying which made me laugh and then I looked at it again and started crying, repeat over and over. I sit in the back, so I hope no one walks back in the middle of one of my multiple ‘crying at work’ moments.

Happy Friday! Hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Thank goodness it is finally Friday, even if this weekend is going to be like a whirlwind. I had to work last weekend, and I could use extra spending money, but I am thankful to be off again.

One of the best parts about this week has been getting my own desk at work. Now, I can slack off work hard without being in the middle of everybody.

Favorite Purchases:
I would like to give myself a high five for my most recent Target trip, because I saved a bunch of money. I got a 5% coupon in the mail, used Cartwheel, and used my Redcard for an extra 5% off. So, even though I bought a new tank and a Star Wars tee, I still didn’t spend too much.

Tank // Star Wars tee: (similar)

I also bought a few maternity items from Kohl’s, because I had some Kohl’s Cash to spend that I received as a gift. I couldn’t find anything in store, but I was able to find things online. I’ve been looking for things that I can wear outside of maternity. These will work for that, except for the bottoms, but stretchy bottoms are worth it to me.
I saw this plaid top in the store and it was the only thing I liked, so I searched it out online. It actually looks much cuter in person, and I don’t think I’ll be wearing the tie around the middle.
I am going to be pregnant in the summer, so shorts are going to be a necessity.
Favorite Food:
My favorite food is still tacos, always tacos.
I also occasionally eat ice cream, but mostly I want all the salty foods. Rita’s has opened here for the spring/summer, though, and gelati and water ice is one of my favorite treats.
Favorite Funnies:
When my brain waits until I walk back to my bed in the dark from the bathroom to think, “What if a monster reaches out from under the bed?”

When I try to call my cats back in from outside:

Trying to fit in my pre-pregnancy workout leggings:

When a stranger knocks on my door and they’ve already seen me in my house through the window:

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Friday Favorites

Is it wrong that I totally forgot it was Friday, because I work Saturday and Sunday? I’m off Monday, though, so there’s one bright side.

I’ve actually had a good night relaxing and watching TV and cooking vegan sausage and potatoes. Besides the whole work thing, it’s my favorite kind of night.

Favorite Cat Nap:

Luna has been conking out on me nonstop since I got back from my 6-day trip. She won’t admit it but she missed cuddles.

Favorite Food:

Let me be honest and say that all my favorite things are food right now. I haven’t tried this one yet, but the picture alone is telling me that it is one of my favorite things. Pasta, cheese, beans, and sauce are the best ever. Adding this to my to-make list.

Quick story: I legitimately almost cried over these. Well, technically over girl scout cookies. I had been looking for girl scout cookies for weeks and couldn’t find any when somebody brought in everyone’s orders to work, which I was not there for when they ordered.

So, when they brought in boxes of cookies and I didn’t get any, I started tearing up and had to tell myself not to cry because that would be ridiculous. Sometimes pregnancy brain comes out of nowhere and I can’t stop it. Luckily, I whined on Facebook and someone suggested these as a replacement and I actually cannot tell the difference. They are amazing. Thank you, friend, for saving me from total girl scout hysteria.

Favorite Funnies:

This perfectly describes my experience with caffeine.

I have met people like this. Although, to be honest, I live with cats so I totally understand.

This accurately describes my life now. If I had a catchphrase, it would be, “Are you going to eat that?” Someone gave me their Reese’s egg the other day because they are on a diet, so obviously they give it to the pregnant lady. I ate it, but still.

My plan tomorrow is pretty much the same thing, except with tacos. Have a great weekend!!

Friday Favorites

It’s an especially nice Friday today, because I am off! I hope it’s a good weekend, although we are supposed to get snow on Sunday. What the hell is up with that. I’m all about the 65 degree weather we’ve been having. I enjoy going outside without two shirts and a coat on when I work out, thank you very much. Here are a few of my favorites this week:

Favorite Show:

I finished season 5 of The Walking Dead, so I’m ready to start the current season. Can they please, please, please just not kill Glenn. He is the best part of the show, since Rick started acting crazy all the time. I think I would have to boycott the show if they got rid of him. Don’t mess with Glenn.

Favorite Food:

I am addicted to these chips. I just can’t stop. These + veggie subs are amazing.

Favorite Workout:

I love this workout if I only have a few minutes after work to squeeze in a workout. If I haven’t done it for a while, it really makes me sore!

Favorite Recipe:

Chickpea salad sandwiches have been on my radar like crazy. I can’t get enough, especially with some crunchy lettuce. I think it’s the spring season; it puts me in the mood for springy foods. I usually use a can of chickpeas, mayo, salt and pepper, and paprika, but you can add in whatever seasonings you prefer. It tastes surprisingly like chicken salad! And the mac and cheese is Earth Balance box mac and cheese; it’s totally vegan and amazing.

Favorite Style:

I am on the lookout for some casual light colored jeans for spring. Maybe with a few rips/tears and loose but not baggy. Also, all the kimonos. I’m so ready for Spring.

Favorite Funnies:
I don’t know whether to be terrified or amused by ostriches. Probably both.

Always read the product description:

That’s it! Have a great weekend! Hope the sun stays out wherever you are. I’m going to enjoy it before this snow comes!

I’m linking up with Amanda at Meet at the Barre for Friday Favorites.
