Five Netflix Movies to Get You Ready for Fall

I have been all about the Netflix, lately. Maybe it’s because the weather is finally cooling off and I just want to hang out on my couch with a throw and encased by a fortress of pillows. I’m also sick with a cold, so there’s nothing better than a pillow fortress.

It’s a season for movie watching, and there are a few that remind me for one reason or another of fall.

1. Sleepy Hollow (1999)

This is kind of a quirky horror movie. It’s more spooky than horrific, and it is perfect for cuddling up to watch around Halloween. It’s visually wonderful, and I like seeing a classic story told in movie form.

2. Horns (2013)

This one is hard to describe without sounding like I’m in the middle of a drug-induced dream. Daniel Radcliffe’s character, Ig, one day awakens to find horns growing out of his head. The horns have a weird effect on people around him, and he uses his powers to try to find out who killed his girlfriend.

I recommend it if you’re into indie flicks with a supernatural edge. The movie is based on a book by Joe Hill, which is also very good.

3. Tucker & Dale Vs Evil (2010)

If you haven’t seen this, I can’t recommend it enough! Go into it knowing that it is a parody, but seriously the most hilarious parody of horror movies. It tells the story of two hillbilly’s who are minding their own business, when a group of college kids mistake them for backwoods killers.

4. Jumanji (1995)

Jumanji excited me so much as a kid, and it still does. I wanted a real life Jumanji board game, even though I saw the epic disaster that happened if you played it. I always felt like the guy with the bazooka made things even worse than the man-eating vines.

5. The Others (2001)

I like scary movies that aren’t that gory and disturbing. Creepy, yes, but I don’t want to have nightmares for a week. Don’t get me wrong, there are some scary parts in this movie, but it’s also a mystery. In it, Nicole Kidman’s character lives in a huge, old house with her two photosensitive children, and she believes that her house is haunted. Creepiness ensues.
